Periwinkle

    Even in Nigerian cuisine periwinkles are unappreciated. I never had them growing up because Ekpang Nkwukwo and Edikang Ikong (which commonly use periwinkles are not Yoruba dishes. However in my opinion, they are a great addition to several native dishes like egusi, okro and even today’s fried rice which comes with beef and an orange.
