When I worked the health beat, I did an article on how part of the malnutrition problem back in the day was caused by the belief that meat was food for adults. As a result kids often got stiffed if their parents could not afford enough for the whole family. This problem was partially solved by teaching parents what nutritional and cheap sides could be given in place of meat e.g. beans, eggs etc. I say partially solved because even today kids and sometimes women give up the good pieces of meat to men and boys based on their gender. BOOOOO!
Anyway today’s meal is partly in remembrance of the rotten lot of African females and youngins but mostly it occurred because I was too lazy the day before to prepare meat or chicken.
Jollof rice, topped with palm oil fried beans, plantain and a boiled egg.
